Mark van Dam has a Master of Arts from the University of New Brunswick and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph.
Mark has worked as a professional photographer for nine years shooting weddings, corporate photographs, family portraits, maternity portraits, book covers, author photos, and fine art. He is located in Barrie Ontario, but regularly shoots in the Muskokas, Peterborough, the Kawartha Lakes, Port Hope and Cobourg.
In 2003/2004, Mark won an Outsanding Achievement in Photography Award in the 2003/2004 Fujifilm Professional Photography Contest.
His photography has been exhibited in Carleton Hall, New Brunswick. His work has been published by John Wiley and Sons, Parent Central, House of Anansi, Insomniac Press, Junction Books, and Qwert-e.
Mark has been a photography instructor in Trent University's Continuing Education Program. His courses included Scatters of Light and Solar Tracks.
Mark is an avid windsurfer, canoeist, and hiker. His poetry has been published by The Pottersfield Portfolio, The Fiddlehead, Qwert-e, and Broken Jaw Press. His screenplay, Ever so Lonely, was the winner of the 2000 CTV/UNB screenwriting contest.
